Milly Atkins, at the age of 98, on the above date in Lawrence Co, KY, requests the widows pension for her husbands service during the Revolutionary War. This file includes a letter from the county clerk of Pittsylvania County, Virginia that provides the dates of marriage for Milly and Thomas as October 8, 1782. It also provides the date of his death as September 29, 1827 and that she has remained a widow. It provides, to the best of her memory, when and where her husband served. Without proof of such service, her request was denied. She states that her son John tore up his father's discharge papers.[1]
