Searching the records for her 1st husband we find a match for a John Peter Reardon who tragically kills himself around 1899: NEW SOUTH WALES. A COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER'S SUICIDE. SYDNEY. Friday. An Inquest was held to-day concerning the death of a man named John Peter Reardon, aged 40, who died at TVavertey last nlghL from the effects of poison. Ho was a commercial traveller, but had lately been out of employment. Yesterday afternoon he was seen to go to the desk and apparently take something out of It. Turning to ills children, shortly afterwards, he said, "God will be father to you." The children looked nt him In surprise, not understanding him, but some time after his wife saw that he was very ill,, and she at once sent for a constable. Reardon was given an emetic, but ho expired almost immediately. A verdict of suicide was returned.[1]
