Biography

Arnold Curtis Aiken was born in 1905, son of Frederick Herbert Aiken and Lillian Achilles. He first appeared on the 1911 Census.[1] Note that the 1911 census mistakenly lists his birth year as 1906, not 1905 - the latter has been verified with the family.

On the 1921 census, Arnold again appears with his parents and two siblings.[2] Living almost next door to the Oakley Smith family (same census page), Arnold married their daughter Eva Ruth Smith on 15 May 1927, Rev. John Champion officiating.[3]

After their house on the farm burned in 1932, Arnold acquired and moved a replacement house to the hamlet called Highwater:[4]

Dunkin, March 26 (1932) - "Mr. Arnold Aiken has bought the Lague house on Ruiter Brook and is moving it to Highwater to put in place of the one that was burned a few weeks ago."[5]

Arnold and Eva has one son and one daughter. Then Eva passed away in 1959 at the age of only 54.

Arnold re-married to Gertrude Kidd. The couple went on to live in Prescott, Ontario during their retirement years.

The following death announcement appeared in The Record:

"Deaths. AIKEN, Arnold Curtis. Quietly at Brockville General Hospital on August 22nd 1999. Arnold Curtis Aiken, formerly of Prescott, Ontario and Mansonville, Quebec, entered into eternal rest in his 95th year. Survived by his wife Gertrude, his son Alton (wife Eileen) and four grandchildren. Also stepsons of Vancouver, BC and Dallas Texas and their families. Visitation Tuesday August 24th, 1999 from 7pm to 9pm"[6]

Buried in Mansonville Cemetery, Mansonville, Brome Co., Quebec, Canada.[7]
