Biography

Robert Aiken was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to New South Wales

Robert Aiken was born in 1811 in Antrim, Ireland.

He was transported to the Colony of New South Wales arriving in 1830 on th 'Hercules'. [1]

Robert married Sarah Ann Say, (1819 - 1902), who married under the name Sarah Smith, on May 11, 1838 in St Thomas, Port Macquarie, New South Wales. Robert was aged 27 and had arrived as a convict on the 'Hercules' in 1830, and Sarah was aged 17, and had arrived on the Henry Wellesley in 1836. [2][3]

The will of Benjamin Thomas Hodgson shows that he was married to Sarah Ann and that he adopted two children, whose surname is Aitken or perhaps Aitkin (unclear). There is other information about that supports this position, however the first name of this person is not a certainty

Robert Aichen death is a mystery. Possible record: Robert Aitken died 1864 Kiama age is around the correct 53/54 years.

Robert Aichen received his ticket of freedom in 1847 so he was still alive when Sarah Aichen partnered with Benjamin Hodgson. I am unable to find a death or divorce for Robert and Sarah. Robert may have returned to England but I can't find a shipping record to confirm that.
