Margaret (Aitken) Horsburgh was born in Scotland.
Margaret Jane Aitken was born on 18 May 1826 and baptized on 26 June 1826 in Cupar, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom.[1] She married William Horsbrugh on 23 November 1853 in Cupar, Fife, Scotland.[2] The marriage announcement went into the Stirling Observer giving the name of her father.[3]
- In 1861, William and Margaret were living at 12 St Catherine Place, Cupar with their four children and 4 servants. He was 41 years and his occupation was given as Clerk of the Place for Fifeshire.[4]

- In 1881, they had moved to 14 Inverleith Terrace, St George, Midlothian. His occupation is 'Procurater Sheriff Court of Fife, Clerk of the Peace of Fife'. Three of their children are there along with two servants.[5]
