Biography

On 23 October 1843 in Floyd County, Kentucky, Thomas Blackburn AKERS married his second wife Elizabeth BALDRIDGE.[1] Their first child, Emeline AKERS was probably born between July and December 1844. [Estimated from 9 months after marriage of parents - age 6 in 1850.]

She was married twice. Her the date and place that she married her first husband is currently unknown, but it is thought that his name was James and his surname was thought to be BURCHWELL, BURCHFIELD or BURCHVILLE. It is thought that this marriage probably occurred between 1860 and 1870 as Emeline was not in her parent's household in 1870.

Explanation of husband's surname:
Emeline Catharine AKERS was listed as Emeline Catharine BURCHFIELD on her second marriage record to John B. YOUNG.[2]
In 1870 United States Federal Census Record of Floyd County, Kentucky, James BURCHFIELD was listed at the head of the household with an adult female named Emily C. BURCHFIELD (Age: 27 Years) and three children: William B. BURCHFIELD (Age: 4 [indexed 11] Years), Mary E. BURCHFIELD (Age: 2 Years) and Mahala F, BURCHFIELD (Age: 10 Months).[3] This family was listed in dwelling 8. In the next dwelling (9), William ACRES was listed as the head of the household. That William ACRES was also Emeline' half brother.
In 1880, the household of John YOUNG contained a child by the name of Jesse YOUNG who was listed as being 6 years old. This places Jesse's birth about 1876 which was 3 years before Emeline's second marriage.
On 5 November 1874 in Floyd County, Kentucky, a child named Jessee P. BURCHVILLE was born to James BURCHVILLE and Emla AKINS.[4]
A Jesse BURCHWELL died on 4 March 1951 in Johnson County, Kentucky.[5] His parents were listed as being James BURCHWELL and Emma AKERS.

Her second marriage occurred on 19 April 1879 in Floyd County, Kentucky to John B. YOUNG.[2]
