Biography

Orlena Olive "Lena" Albertson was born 16 Dec 1876 in Morgan County, Tennessee to Benjamin Albertson and Elizabeth Young. [1] [2] [3]

She married first on 13 Mar 1898 at Morgan County, Tennessee to John Melvin Hull, [4] and they had three children, two of whom died as infants: [2]

2. Clarence, b. abt. 1902, d. abt. 1904
3. Benjamin Franklin, b. 12 Jun 1904, m. Ruby Adeline Butts, d. 15 Mar 1985

Lena's first husband Melvin died in 1905 and Lena married second on 21 Feb 1909 at Morgan County, Tennessee to Ulysses Nelson "Lyss" Peters. [5] Lena and Lyss had children: [6] [7]

Lena's mother Elizabeth Albertson and Lyss's brother Elbert Peters resided with them in 1910.

Lena passed away on 27 Mar 1920 at Knoxville, Tennessee [3] and was buried there in an unmarked grave at New Gray Cemetery. [8] [9]

Personal recollection

Orlena and Melvin had three sons. The first two died in infancy, and the third -- Benjamin Franklin Hull -- lived to adulthood. After Melvin's death, Orlena taught school to support herself and her son Ben. Later, she married Ulysses Peters, brother of her sister Mary's husband James Garfield Peters. They had four sons -- Wesley, Warren, Eston, and Solon -- who remained close to their step-brother Ben for most of their lives. [10]
