In 1860, the family lived in Key West, Monroe County, Florida. Her siblings included William, Emeline and joseph.[2] By 1870, William and Emeline were no longer living in the home. Children in the home included Joseph, Mary, Davis, Anna and Cornelia.[3] Her father, Phillip, was a carpenter.
She married Thomas Sweeting on 22 May 1876 in Key West, Florida, in a ceremony performed by Wm. R. Johnson, Pastor Spark's Chapel.[4] The witnesses were Philip Albury and Abraham Roberts.
Mary died on 12 December 1937 in Miami, Florida,[5] and she is buried in the Woodlawn Park North Cemetery and Mausoleum in Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida.[6]
