John Alchin was born shortly before 7 Jun 1605 in Frant, Sussex, England, son of Barnaby and Cisely Alchin. ^{[1][2] [3]}

Barnaby and Cicely had at least 7 children, The John of this profile, christened 7 July 1605, who died 4 Sep 1623, Thomas Alchin, christened 22 Mar 1616/7, Joan Alchin, christened 18 Jun 1609, Elizabeth Alchin, christened 24 Mar 16/12 (who must have died before 1621), Barnaby Alchin, christened 28 Apr 1616, Barnaby died 29 Aug 1626 ^[4] Martha Alchin, christened 20 Dec 1618, Martha was buried 21 Sep 1624 aged 3 years 10 months, another Elizabeth Alchin christened 19 Aug 1621. All these events took place in Frant, Sussex. Thomas went on to have at least 5 children.

There is a burial of an innocent child of Barnaby Alchin on 4 Sep 1623 in Frant, Sussex which must be John as Barnaby died in 1626. There are no further records in the register for either child. ^[5]
