Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a retired American basketball player who played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks teams.
Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor was born in New York City in 1947. He is the son of Ferdinand Alcindor and Cora Douglas.
He chose the Muslim name Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for himself some time after converting to Islam while in college at UCLA.
He retired in 1989.
Kareem participated in the Dancing With the Stars - Athletes competition in May 2018 as both the oldest and the tallest competitor to date.
