Jacob Aldrich was born May 8, 1676[1] at Braintree,[1] son of Jacob Aldrich and his wife Huldah (Thayer) Aldrich.[1]
On September 15, 1699[2]Jacob married Margery Hayward[2] who was born November 9, 1682[1] the daughter of Samuel Hayward and Mehitable (Thompson) Hayward.[1]
Jacob was active in political affairs with his name frequently appearing as a town public officer.[1]His name is found many times in the Proprietors Record of the town.[1]He purchased the George Aldrich homestead to settle his father's estate and lived there the majority of his life.[1]
Children of Jacob and Margery, all born at Mendon, Massachusetts.[1]
Mercy was born June 21, 1700 and died at Mendon in 1752. On December 19, 1717 she married Israel Taft of Mendon who was born April 26, 1699 the son of Robert and Elizabeth Taft. He died in 1753.
Jacob was born October 1, 1701 and died October 30, 1701.
Huldah was born January 29, 1703. unmarried.
Hannah was born June 3, 1704. She married John Harwood of Mendon on February 9, 1726. John was born April 28, 1703.
Noah was born January. 1707 and died young.
Experience was born December 30, 1708. On June 13, 1727 she married Benjamin Craggin who was born January 27, 1702 at Mendon and died about 1751.
Jacob was born May 29, 1711.
Bethiah was born March 7, 1713. On October 25, 1731 she married Abraham Fletcher who was born June 20, 1706, son of Hezekiah and Mary (Wood) Fletcher.
Margery was born March 14, 1714 and died October 7, 1767. On March 7, 1732 she married Ichabod Amidon who was born about 1709 and died September 24, 1789.
Noah was born on August 28, 1717.
Probate
In 1753, his heirs, Noah Aldrich of Mendon, Mary, wife of Israel Taft of Upton, Hannah, wife of John Harwood of Uxbridge, Experience, wife of Benjamin Craging of Mendon, Margery, wife of Ichabod Ammidown, Bethiah, wife of Abraham Fletcher of Mendon, signed a quitclaim for consideration, giving their father's estate to their brother Jacob. The will of Jacob Aldrich of Mendon was dated 5 May 1748 and proved on 23 August 1753 in Worcester. He mentioned his wife Mary, and his children, Jacob Aldrich, Noah Aldrich, Mary Taft, Hannah Harwood, Experience Craging, Bethiah Fletcher, and Margery Ammidown.[3]
