Common Errors
Mary is sometimes conflated with Mary Aldrich born 06/16/1637 in Dorchester, Norfolk, MA. She was named in her father’s will and died 1683 unmarried.[5][6][7] She never married.[6]
George Aldrich left a will in Mendon, Massachusetts, dated Nov. 2, 1682, probated on 26 April, 1683.[6] The will of George Aldrich states: "Item. I give to my daughter Mary Aldrich, Sarah Bartlett, and Mercy Randall and Martha Dunbar twelve pence apeice to be paid by my Executrix."[6]
Based on this entry in George's will we know that on Nov 2, 1682 Mary was still single. Therefore she can’t have been the same Mary who was married 31 years earlier on December 12, 1651 in Rhode Island. George Aldrich was very specific about naming the children in his will and had she been the same person he would have called her Mary Whitman just as he correctly called his other three daughters by their married names: Sarah Bartlett, and Mercy Randall and Martha Dunbar.
One of the recent works on this family was in an Article in “The American Genealogist” (TAG) which also states she was unmarried.[5]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
I believe further corrections are warranted for this profile. The birth date of about 16 June 1637 is the same date listed for Mary, daughter of George Aldrich, in 'The George Aldrich Genealogy' compiled by Alvin James Aldrich. If this Mary had been born in 1637 she would have been rather young to have married Valentine in 1651. Furthermore, the above narrative then states "Birth: ABT. 1630, Providence, Rhode Island" but Providence was not established until a few years after 1630. So while the year may be correct, the location would not be.
As part of PGM we are cleaning up the family group of George Aldrich and his childern. The daughter named Mary never married. So we either need to remove this daughter or remove her spouse and children. Please see the sources attached to George Aldrich's profile. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Aldrich-73 I sent a PM to each of the profile managers of Mary.
