Charles Aldrich was born 1794 in Rhode Island, the son of Gardner Aldrich and his wife Anne (Colwell) Aldrich.[1][2]
He married (1st) to Betsey Aldrich daughter of Joshua and Ruth Aldrich[1]She may have died at age 39 or 40 in 1833. Her father Joshua Aldrich was in Revolutionary War, placed on pension roll of Chenango Co., N. Y in 1833 at the age of 72 years, for service of private in the Rhode Island militia.[3] He was b. in Smithfield, R. I., and died in Norwich, N. Y.[4]
Charles married (2nd) to Maria (maiden name unknown, possibly Aldrich, daughter of Noah.[1]She was born about 1806 in Massachusetts.[2]
By 1850 Charles (age 56) and Maria were living in Plymouth, Chenango County, New York; he was a farmer spelling surname "Aldridge." The following children, who were all born in New York, were living with them: Smith age 30, Augustus age 23, Noah age 14, Charles age 9, Maria age 2, Albertus age 8 months.[2]The rest of their lives, they remained living in this area; it seems their son Charles Henry farmed with them, since in the 1865 and 1870 census, he and his family are listed in the same vicinity.[5][6]
Charles Aldrich died April 19, 1883.[1]His gravestone at South Plymouth Cemetery, South Plymouth, Chenango County, New York says his death date was March 17, 1872 at the age of 78 years. Maria, his wife who was buried beside him, died April 19, 1889 at the age of 72 years.[7]
Charles Henry b. 1840 (#803) died 1900 and was buried at South Plymouth Cemetery, South Plymouth, Chenango County, New York.[8]
Ellen Marie b. 24 May 1848
