When Mary Aldridge was born in 1746 in All Hallow's Parish, Anne Arundel, Province of Maryland,[1] her father, Nicholas Aldridge, was 48, and her mother, Ursula (Grimes) Aldridge, was 46. She married Joseph Barnes in 1779 in Montgomery Village, Maryland. The family moved from Maryland to Kentucky between 1800 and 1809. She died on May 18, 1821, in Ohio County, Kentucky, having lived a long life of 75 years.

"Joseph Barnes married Mary, daughter of Nicholas, of Ann Arundel County, Maryland, and shortly afterward, probably around 1800, they moved to Ohio County, records in the local county clerk's office showing that in that year a tract of Ohio County land was deeded to Joseph by Ignatis Pigman, a fellow Marylander and pioneer Ohio County Methodist preacher and land dealer. Joseph and Mary were certainly here in 1803 when they executed to Aquilla Field a deed conveying her interest in the estate of her late father, back in Maryland, but which is of record in this county...J"
