OBITUARY[8].
The Viscountess Stratford de Redcliffe, widow of the great diplomatist, Lord Stratford de Redcliffe, died on Saturday last at her residence at Frant, near Tunbridge Wells, at an advanced age, having survived her husband little more than two years. Her ladyship was Eliza Charlotte, eldest daughter of the late Mr. James Alexander, of Somerhill, Kent, and a cousin of the late Earl of Caledon. She married in September, 1825, Sir Stratford Canning, who, after a long career in the diplomatic service, was raised to the peerage by Derby in 1852, as Viscount Stratford de Redcliffe.

Elizabeth Charlotte Alexander, eldest daughter of James A. and cousin of the Earl of Caledon, married he Right Hon. Sir Stafford Canning, Sept. 3, 1825.James the first Earl was succeeded by his son, Dupre Alexander, the second Earl and peer of Ireland, in 1802, who died April 8th, 1839. The only son of Dupre is James Dupre Alexander, the third Earl, who succeeded to his father's titles and estates in 1839.
