Biography
Mary S. Alexander has a complex biography. She married Edward F. Wood in Phelps County in 1853 and they had two daughters, Emeline Wood and Amanda Wood. In 1860, Mary was twenty-five years old:
Edward F. Wood M age 32 Kentucky; Mary S. Wood F age 25 Tennessee; Emeline Wood F age 6 Missouri; Amanda Wood F age 2 Missouri; Amanda Alexander F age 22 Tennessee.

On 8Oct1863, Mary S. Wood married Joseph T. Schultz in Phelps County, Missouri. They were the parents of Mary Josephine Schultz and Emaline Schultz.
In 1871, Mary S. Alexander married Hugh W. Roach in Phelps County. They had two sons: William and Charles. In 1880, they were had a blended family consisting of two of her daughters, his children, and their two sons:
Hugh W. Roach M age 48; Mary S. Roach F age 44; Amanda Wood F age 22; Hugh A. Roach M age 18; Victoria Roach F age 16; Emeline Shultz F age 13; E. Harvy M age 13; Ellen Roach F age 13; William Roach M age 10; Charles Roach M age 6.
[Amanda Wood was Mary's daughter with Edward F. Wood and Emeline Schultz was her daughter with Joseph Schultz. Hugh A. Roach, Victoria Roach, Harvy Roach and Ellen Roach were Hugh W.'s children from his first marriage to Margaret 'Peggy' Ann Thomas, and William and Charles Roach were the children of Hugh and Mary.]
Meanwhile, Mary's minor daughter, Mary Josephine Schultz, was living in the household of Mary's oldest daughter, Emeline (Wood) Paulsell, who was now married to John Calvin Paulsell and living in Phelps County.
Mary died on 8May1926 in Phelps County and is buried at Pea Ridge Cemetery.
