Kittie was born in 1863. She passed away in 1945. [1]
Kitty Lucas Alexander Hitson was called "Kittyfish" by all of her grandchildren. It was suspected that she might have been Indian or part Indian. John Wesley, her husband would not talk about her family. It was "taboo" in those days to marry Indians or Blacks.
She died of injuries sustained in a car wreck in December 1 1945. The cause of death was Pulmonary edema caused by pleurisy. She is buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Greenville, Butler County, Alabama.
According to records listed below, Catherine Lucas was the daughter of Alphonzo Lucas 1833-1865, San Augustine County, Texas. Her mother is said to be Elizabeth Katherine Bryan 1857-1919, San Augustine County, Texas.
Mr Edison's research says that Kittyfish married John Wesley Hitson in Texas. I have yet to locate a marriage license for the two and have been unable to get hold of Mr. Edison for confirmation of his records.
Family members say that her name was Katherine (Kitty) Lucas Alexander. No records have been located to prove her maiden name as Lucas or Alexander.

Alexander-5860 and Alexander-4879 appear to represent the same person because: Both of these profiles appear to refer to the wife of John Hitson (Hitson-85). They were previously the wives of Hitson-85 and Hitson-90, which have just been merged as clear duplicates. Please check the information and decide whether this merge seems accurate. Thank you!
