Charles was born in 1830 to Alexander Alexander a shipowner and Ann Jameson.[1] He married Bethea Scott on 19th of June 1860 in Edinburgh.
In the 1861 census Charles (age 30), Linen Draper, was the head of household on No 27 Minto Street, Edinburgh St Cuthberts, Midlothian.[2]
In the 1881 census C (age 50), Tweed Manufacturer & Landowner Employing. 119 Woman 95 Men 14 Girls. 19 Boys. Land 3 Men,, was the head of household at Heronhill House, Hawick, Roxburghshire.[3]
