Dawes Enrollee
Cherokee by Blood
Dawes Card Number

Lillian Alexander was born in 1880 in Indian Territory, United States. Her parents were Joseph Alexander, a white man, and Caroline Thompson, a Cherokee woman. [1] Her mother died shortly after she was born and her father remarried in 1883. The 1900 census recorded Lillian living with her father and step-mother in Fort Smith, Arkansas, [2] but her father stated on their Dawes application that she had previously "gone East to school" and was currently a teacher at the Cherokee Female Seminary in Tahlequah. She married Albert Wyly on June 13, 1903. [3] In 1910 they were living in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. [4] They did not have children.

Lillian was enrolled by the Dawes Commission as a Cherokee by Blood in 1902 [5] and was approved for a share of the Eastern Cherokee (Guion Miller) payment in 1911. [6] Lillian died in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1977 [7] [8] and is buried at the Tahlequah Cemetery, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. [9]
