In 1910 they lived in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.[3]
Research Notes
Joseph Alexander is a fairly common name. The profile Joseph Alexander was created with a distinctive middle name of Katley-- which was later changed to K. for unexplained reasons. The original Joseph Katley Alexander was guessed to have been from Ireland, and if so was most likely white. Other editors have tried to be helpful by attaching various sources.
All of the records which have been attached conflict with each other. Records have been attached which say he was a black man from Louisiana with a father from Georgia, mother from Louisiana. An 1880 census attached says his parents' names are different from the parents on the attached marriage records.
An 1886 Orleans Parish marriage record does not state his race, but says he was from Ohio, his wife from Mississippi, and his father from South Carolina. A 1910 census from St. Martin Parish has the right names, but says his wife Emma is his 2nd wife, and only since 1905. Perhaps he married 2 women named Emma. It says he is black and he and his parents are from Louisiana.
It would be helpful if the profile's creator, who is still the profile manager, would weigh in with anything they know to be correct. Do you know that Joseph's wife's name was Emma? Do you know that the children are correct? Do you know what parish he lived in? Any answers can help us narrow down which Joseph Alexander's records are the right ones.
