The Hon. Elizabeth Allen, was probably born in 1722 and was baptised 19 July 1722. She was the eldest surviving daughter of Joshua Allen, 2nd Viscount Allen, and his wife Margaret Du Pass.[1]
She and her younger sister Frances, became the co-heirs of their only surviving brother John Allen, 3rd Viscount Allen, when he died unmarried on 25 May 1745, although the title passed to a cousin.[2]
Elizabeth married on 27 August 1750,[3] John Proby, son of John Proby, of Elton Hall, county Huntingdon and his wife, Hon. Jane Leveson-Gower. He had been born on 25 November 1720 and was created 1st Baron Carysfort of Carysfort, county Wicklow in the Irish peerage on 23 January 1752.[4]
They had two children;
John Joshua Proby, born 12 August 1751, succeeded his father as 2nd Baron Carysfort, and created 1st Earl of Carysfort;
Hon. Elizabeth Proby, born 14 November 1752, married Thomas James Storer, Esq. (died 10 November 1792), and died 19 March 1808 having had issue;[5]
Her husband died at Lille in Flanders, 18 October 1772 and was buried at Elton, Huntingdonshire, and she died in March 1783.[6]
