For most of her life she was known as Minnie. She was the fourth of the seven children of Robert John ALLEN and Isabella FRAZER. The two elder sons, David and John, were both given ‘Frazer’ as their second given name. After a time they both took the surname of FRAZER ALLEN to which they later added a hyphen.
Mary-Jane added ‘Frazer’ as an additional given name at the time of her marriage to Herbert William ALLEN. The marriage was conducted by her eldest brother David at his parish in Lincolnshire.[2]
During the 1911 England Census she was visiting her brother David at his Rectory at Little Bytham, Lincolnshire, with her two year old son Richard.[3]
Throughout her life she celebrated her birthday on 1 May rather than her actual birthday of 30 April. (We believe that this was due to having been crowned as May Queen when she was at school.)
