John W Allen, son of Robert L. Allen and Rebecca (Finley) Allen of Little Coon Valley, Alabama.
About 1879, John went to work as a farm hand on his Aunt Elizabeth Lovelady's farm. She was a neighbor of James Madison Bean, Jr.
John married James' daughter, Eliza Ann Bean in 1881, at the home of John Matthews and Sarah (Bean) Matthews (Eliza Ann's Aunt and Uncle, who had no children of their own) Justice of the Peace, W. J. Thurman, performed the ceremony.
John and Eliza moved to the Bass Community, in Crow Creek Valley, north of Stevenson, Alabama, where he farmed 100 acres of land.
Eliza and John had thirteen children, all born in Jackson County, Alabama. She died in 1919.
After Eliza's death, (around 1922) John moved with his daughter, Nola (Allen) Stewart to Chattanooga, Tennessee. He lived there until his death in 1948.
Both John and Eliza and several of their children are buried at Talley Cemetery in Dry Cove, Jackson County, Alabma.
