After the war he came back to America to Fort McPherson Georgia and signed his seperation papers on 12 Jan 1946 where he received an Honorable Discharge.
Upon returning home from the war Cleveland bought him a 113 acre farm, where he raised cattle, horses, chickens, rabbits, hogs, goats, sheeps, geese, and ducks. My mother and him got married when I was only 3 years old. Life on the farm was hard because Cleveland was old school. We made everything we needed, butter, cheese etc..He let nothing go to waste..need beef kill a cow etc. We grew huge gardens , canned or froze everything. All the while he held down a full time job where he drove a truck for Goldkist for some 30 years.
Cleveland retired from Goldkist and was a mechanic for Clarke County School bus. One day he was under a bus working on brakes when the bus driver got in bus and drove over him breaking both legs and a few ribs, he was hospitalized for weeks.
In 1982 Cleveland started having chest pains and was rushed to Athens Regional Hospital were they said it was a heart attack. They did open heart surgery and put in a pacemaker. So after that he slowly started selling off the animals,
