According to family records, Mary J. Allen was his mother. He was born 29 Mar 1874. He was widowed in 1900 and the census also lists two of his brothers.
From FAG bio: hen Calvin Young Allen was born on March 20, 1874, in Dahlgren, Illinois, his father, Calvin, was 42 and his mother, Mary, was 35. He married Clara Belle Smith and they had one son together. He then married Margaret Cordella Brummet in Hamilton, Illinois. He died on November 5, 1949, in his hometown at the age of 75, and was buried there.
