Benjamin married Phoebe Trenholm on March 27, 1822 in Botsford Township.[1] They had 12 children. At the time of the 1851 census, they were living in Botsford Parish (likely Cape Tormentine) with 9 of their children, and next door to son Isaac. Other Allen families lived nearby, including Benjamin's cousin, Martin.[2]
Sometime after Phoebe's death in 1857, Benjamin married Susannah Eastman Williams. In 1861, Benjamin and Susannah were living with 3 of Benjamin's children (Jacob, Eliza Angeline and Benjamin Carvosso) along with a grand-daughter, Vinea Allen, age 8. Her parents to be confirmed. They were also living near two other sons, John Nelson and Job, and cousin Martin.[3]
Benjamin died on May 9, 1869 in Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick and was buried in the Bayfield Cemetery.[4]
Phoebe and Ben's grandson, Private Earl Russell Trenholm (son of Job Allen & "Sadie" Sarah Louise Trenholm), would be the first-known and only known Trenholm NBer to die in action. He died on 26 October 1944 during WWII. He was 23 years of age. He was a member of the New Brunswick Rangers R.C.I.C.
