Obituary - Mrs. Eldora Allen Powell, widow of the late Charles T. Powell, died in her home here at 6 o'clock Friday evening, following an illness of several weeks with a compilation of diseases. The body was removed to the Sprague funeral home in this city and later taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Winnie Anderson, in the western part of the city, where it rested until funeral rites Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C.E. Griswold. Pallbearers were: Vaden Sutton, Joe Sutton, Gilbert, Wilbert, Leffie and Odus Powell. A large concourse of relatives and friends gathered at the church to pay a last tribute of respect to the life of this noble woman, which was so well lived. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery. Mrs. Powell was a daughter of the late James M. and Mary Francis Allen and was born November 17, 1859, at Philadelphia. She was married March 13, 1877, to Charles T. Powell, who died in 1912. Of late years Mrs. Powell had resided in Palmyra, where she was a member of the Baptist Church. She was 78 years old. She is survived by the following children: Emmett M. and Ben H. Powell, Mrs. Winnie B. Anderson, Mrs. Abbie E. Ralph, Mrs. Susie M. Cosby, and Mrs. Nina B. Snodgrass, all of Palmyra; two stepsons, P.R. Powell of perry and J.L. Powell of Hamilton, Montana. Other survivors include six sisters, Mrs. Fannie Powell, Mrs. Pearl T. Johnson, Mrs. Bernie Singleton, all of Palmyra, Mrs. Eugene Johnson, of Philadelphia, Mrs. B.F. Leake of Midway, California and Mrs. Lillie Foreman, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two brothers, J.W. Allen of Philadelphia and J. J. Alen of Oneida, Kansas; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children and four stepchildren.

Buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra, Marion County, Missouri.
