Biography
John and Mrs. Allen are buried in Woodlawn cemetery in Creston, Ill.
John Allen was born in England about 1850. In 1880, he as residing in the Dement, Ogle County, Illinois, area as a married white farmer. His wife was a white female also born in England named Mary. According to the 1880 US Census for Dement, Ogle County, Illinois, John and Mary had four daughters and one son -- Annie, Lucy, Frank, Lizzie and Nellie --at that time. Also, according to the 1880 US Census for Dement, Ogle County, Illinois, there was another farmer, George Berkshire, living in their household at then. John passed away after 1880.
