John Allen was born circa 1671, the son of Reverend James Allen and his second wife Elizabeth (Houchin) Endicott [1][2][3]. He may have been christened on March 3, 1672[4]
On 22 Jul 1697, he married Elizabeth Edwards, the daughter of John Edwards of Charleston and his wife Elizabeth (who was sister of John Edwards the goldsmith of Boston)[5][1][2][3], and their children included:
Jeremiah, born 1699[7], who married Rebecca Kelley[1]
Elizabeth, born 1702[8], who married Hezekiah Blanchard, the distiller[9][1]
James, born Feb 6, 1706[10], who married Rebecca Fox[11]
Susannah, born 1711[12], who married Ebenezer Welch in 1732[13] and married second Francis Welles in 1738[14][1]
John Allen (goldsmith)'s will was dated December 8, 1736 and passed probate on January 8, 1760[1]
