Biography

Louisa (Lucy) was born in 1861 to parents Robert Allen and Jemima Cooper at Bungarrabee, New South Wales, Australia. [1]

Louisa married John James McMahon in 1877 at Yass, New South Wales, Australia. [2] at James Carpenter Inn.

Louisa passed away in 1941 at Harden District Hospital, New South Wales, Australia. [3]

She was survived by John (Molong), Walter (Canowindra), Robbie (Molong), Phil and Leslie (Young), sons; Mrs. N. Fields (Cowra), Mrs. B. Williams (Roma, Queensland), Mrs;: Currin (Bourke), Mrs. E. Foo (Auburn, N.S.W.), and Mrs. J. Hall (Young), daugthers.[4]

MRS. LOUISA McMAHON

Mother of 16 children, 10 of whom are living, Mrs. Louisa McMahon of North Street, Murrumburrah, passed away quietly in the local District Hospital on Sunday last.

With the passing of Mrs. McMahon has snapped another link with the pioneering days. -'She belonged to the hardy stock who can stand up nobly against the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune." In her 82nd year she was stricken down suddenly and was only admitted to Hospital on the Friday previous.

She was born at Penrith, and was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Allen. In Bathurst, at the age of 18 she was married to the late Mr John McMahon, who pre-deceaesd her nine year's ago. For 25 years Mr. McMahon was overseer at Burrawang Station, near Forbes. After his death Mrs McMahon took up residence at Young where she lived for some years. Finally coming to Murrumburrah about five years ago.

She leaves to mourn her loss, five sons and five daughters: John (Molong), Walter (Canowindra), Robbie (Molong), Phil and Leslie (Young), sons; Mrs. N. Fields (Cowra), Mrs. B. Williams (Roma, Queensland), Mrs Currin (Bourke), Mrs. E. Foo (Auburn, N.S.W.), and Mrs. J. Hall (Young); daughters. The funeral took place on Monday morning in the Catholic portion of the Young cemetery, the Rev. Father McKenna officiating at the graveside. The pall-bearers were four grandsons, Bert and Ken McMahon, of Young, Allen McMahon. of Molong; and Jack Currin, of Bourke.
