Mary Ann (Allen) Palmer was born in Gillingham, Kent, England.

Mary Ann was baptised on the 17th of February 1828 at St Mary Magdalene, Gillingham. She was the daughter of carpenter William Henry Allen and Sarah Biggs.[1]

Mary Ann married George Wright Palmer - a gunner in the Royal Navy - on the 27th of March 1848 at Gillingham.[2]

At the time of the 1851 census, she was recorded with her two sons, Isaac and George, staying in the home of her parents.[3]

Mary Ann, George and their son Edward were recorded living at 33 Marshall St, Westminster on the 1871 census.[4]

Mary Ann died at Britton Street, Gillingham on the 22nd of March 1872. Her cause of death was Phthisis. She was buried at Grange Road Cemetery, Gillingham on 27 March 1872.[5] [6]
