His father died October - December 1871 age 27 years at Wisbech Cambridgeshire , by the 1881 census his mother had married John Leverett and he had four younger siblings.[3]
At both the 1891[4] and 1901 (where he was explicitly described as step-son)[5] censuses he was still living with his parents.
At the 1911 census he was still single and boarding with a Davis family in King's Lynn.[6]
