Bernard "Barney" Allen, 83, Murray, died Oct. 23 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Born in Madison County April 3, 1904, he was the son of Melvin and Cora Husted Allen. On June 2, 1927, he was married to Rose Boatwright in Winterset.
Mr. Allen farmed in Madison County until moving to Des Moines in 1942. The family lived there until moving to Arizona in 1962 and then moved to Murray in 1970.
Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kisto of Chandler, Ariz., Mrs. Rosalie Hampton and husband Ronald of Murray, and Mrs. Sue Oglesbee and husband Mack of Murray; sons, Darrell and wife Marlys of Urbandale and Jack and wife Vivian of Cambridge, Minn.; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Allen of Earlham and a sister, Mrs. Wilma Henrich of Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, several brothers and sisters.
