Charles Allen was about 45 years old when he was tried in Cork on 15 July 1850 and found guilty of two charges of sheep stealing[1]. He received a sentence of ten years transportation but was later ordered to be discharged (June 1856).[2]
There is a record of Charles still being incarcerated in Cork jail in 1851[3]. No record of a "Charles Allen" meeting this individual's description on the Australian Convict lists has so far been found - it is possible Charles never made the journey due to his age or ill health.
