Biography

Delilah Allen was born on 17 September 1860 on her parents' farm in Magoffin County, Kentucky, USA. Her parents were Adam Allen, b: 1832 in Kentucky, and his wife, Mary (Bradley) Allen, b: 1837 in Kentucky. On the June 1870 US Census, "Delila Allen" was recorded as white, 9 years old, living on her parents' farm in Salyersville, District 6, Magoffin County, Kentucky. The household included her parents, 5 children, and a 26-year-old single woman (Delilah's aunt), Hezekiah Allen. [1]

On 22 March 1877, Delilah Allen married Wiley Wireman, b: 3 Jan 1859 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. [2]

The couple had a family farm in Magoffin County, Kentucky, USA, and had 8 children there:[3]

On the June 1, 1900 US Census, "Lila Wireman," was recorded as white, 42 [she was 41] yrs., married to 41-yr.-old Wiley Wireman, a Farmer, in Meadows Twp., Magoffin County, Kentucky, USA. The couple had 2 sons & 4 daughters living with them. The Census declared they had been married 23 years. Delila had had 8 children, 6 of whom were living in June 1900. [5]

Widow Delilah (Allen) Wireman passed away on 17 September 1938 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. According to her husband's Find A Grave Memorial, she was buried on Vernon and Blanche Vanderpool's farm in Magoffin County, Kentucky. Around 2012 her remains were moved "a short distance from [their] original resting place" to make way for the expansion of Mountain Parkway. Her husband had predeceased her; Wiley Wireman died on 8 November 1920 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, USA. He was buried at the Wiley Wireman Cemetery, Waldo, Magoffin, Kentucky, USA. [6]
