Biography
Thomas Allen's origins remain a mystery. The only definitive records are: his estate was inventoried on April 28, 1683 in Burlington, New Jersey, probably close to the time of his death and the July 16, 1684 probate. In probate he is named a "shoemaker" and his widow is Mary Allen. [1] His daughter Mary is not mentioned and was perhaps born during the probate period. She was, however, clearly identified as his daughter in her Connecticut marriage record.[2]
