Bethel, Sampson, and Thomas Allen, sons of Daniel Allen and Elizabeth Bethel, settled in Callaway County in 1817. Bethel married Elizabeth Read. Bethel and Sampson were soldiers in the War of 1812.
About 1770 the family moved from Virginia to North Carolina and lived continually on or near the Dan River in the extreme north west part of North Carolina.
In 1782 Daniel Allen was witnees to a Sampson Bethell survey for William Bethell in Rockingham County, North Carolina.
About 1786 Thomas Daniel Allen moved his family into Washington County, North Carolina.

Thomas Allen, issue 20 May 1793 for services as a Lieutenant. The 2,500 Acres were in Davidson County on Duck Creek, based on Warrent No. 1827, filed by John Allen, heir to Thomas Allen.
