Biography

Walter Allen emigrated from Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk, England to Massachusetts Bay about 1638.

Walter Allen appeared in Newbury in 1640, possibly earlier. He removed to Charlestown, Massachusetts, about 1652, then to Watertown, Massachusetts. In his later years he returned to Charlestown.[1]

Walter Allen married, first, Rebecca Ward in England. Rebecca died about 1678. Walter then married Abigail Rogers, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, on 29 Nov 1678.[1]

In 1652 he removed to Watertown and within a couple of years sold his estate and bought 60 acres near the Concord boundary. This area was called Watertown Farms.

In 1669 he purchased 200 acres more at Watertown Farms. Afterward the town was known as Weston. Rebecca died here.

It was about 1673 when he moved to Charlestown. His occupation at times over the years was listed as "Farmour", planter, Haberdasher, shop-keeper and once as "Habadasher of Hatts".

Walter died in Charlestown, Massachusetts on 8 July 1681.[1] The inventory of his estate amounted to a goodly sum for his day.

Allen-48484 and Allen-4212 appear to represent the same person because: Although I don't get the Daniel (Allen) Palmer child of the first one!
