Richard Allin Jr was a Virginia colonist.

Richard Allin was born in 1650. At the time of his birth, his father was documented in Northampton County, Virginia.[1]

It is unknown if his father, Richard Allin, of Northampton County, Virginia removed to St. Peter's Parish, New Kent as stated in Historical Southern Families. Volume III. The author concluded that the elder Richard Allin would have been too old in 1725 to have been the one in the Parish register.[2] For the sake of those descendants claiming the elder Richard was the one married to the Elisabeth in the Parish register after 1725, here is the quote from the book:

"If he was, say, 20 years old in 1653-55 in Northampton, he would be too old in 1725 to have been that Richard Allin."

There was a Richard Allen on the 1704 Quit Rent Rolls of James City County, Virginia owning 540 acres.[3] Parts of New Kent County were formed from James City County in 1654. Other Allen land owners on the 1704 Quit Rent rolls in New Kent County were:

Allen, Rich'd - New Kent - 550
Allen, Rob't - New Kent - 100
Allen, Reynold - New Kent - 205
Allen, Daniel - New Kent - 250
Allen, Sam'l - New Kent - 150[4]
Vestry document with signature of Richard Allin.
Richard Allin first appears in the St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Vestry records in 1704. He was appointed one of the vestrymen to procession the parish of St. Peters, New Kent County, at a Vestry held the 1st day of June 1704.[5] At a vestry held the 7th of July 1704, "Capt. John Scott, Capt Richd Littlepage, Mr William Bassett, Mr. Richd Allen and Mr. Thomas Massid or any four of them are requested to meet such Gentlemen as shall be appointed by the Gentlemen of the Vestry of St. Pauls parish to run the dividing line between this parish and the parish of St. Pall and that it be done by the county Surveyor at the charge of both parishes." He signed his name "Richd Allin" on the parish records.

The author of Historical Southern Families. Volume III, concerning the Richard Allin of New Kent County, noted that Hanover County [St. Paul's Parish] formed from New Kent County [St. Peter's Parish] became identified with Henrico County in 1717.[2] On the 6th day of May 1717, Benjamin Woodson of Henrico County, Virginia in consideration of 30 pounds sold to Richard Allen land lying in the county of Henrico on Chicahominy Swamp containing 200 acres.[6] A land patent was made to son, Robert Allin, of New Kent County on the 11th day of July 1719 for 250 acres of land lying on the north side of Chickahominey Swamp in New Kent County.[7] The area the family lived in can be viewed on a map of the State of Virginia which shows Chichahomony in New Kent as well as the juxtaposition of Henrico, New Kent and Hanover (where Robert's children were later documented.)

According to the St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Register, Richd Allen died on the 7th(br) ye 6th, 1725.[8]

Why is this profile labeled PGM?
... because I apparently wasn't paying enough attention to what I was doing. Thanks for noticing, all fixed.

This is basically an empty profile. No wife, no children connected. There is no reason not to merge this profile into to the profile with all the data such as wife, children. Please review and try to clean up the registers by merging duplicate profiles.

Thank you,

Mary

Allen-12336 and Allin-34 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Duplicate. Allen-12336 is a ghost profile. It has no spouse, no children attached and the dates are the same as Allin-34. There is no reason why it shouldn't be rolled into Allin-34?

Allen-20002 and Allin-34 appear to represent the same person because: Same father, similar death details. Please add sources to both profiles if you don't think they are duplicates. Suggest Allin as the preferred LNAB, as there have already been several profiles merged into that LNAB. Thanks for reviewing.

I was about to initiate a merge with Allen-20002 when I noticed that this merge had already been rejected. If both records are valid for two different people, these two half brothers were born within 5 years of each other to the same father, had the same first and last name, and died within a few months of each other at ~75 years of age. It sounds highly implausible, but stranger things have happened. Can profile managers share the supporting sources and/or analysis supporting this situation?
