Biography

Parentage; Date and Place of Birth

Sarah, daughter of Samuel Allen and Sarah (Partridge) Allen, was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth Colony in April 14, 1667.[1][2][3]

First Marriage and Children

Sarah married Jonathan Cary.[4][5] Based on the estimated date of birth of their first-born child (1688) and the fact that Sarah was born in 1667, they were probably married about 1687. Since both Jonathan's and Sarah's families were from Bridgewater, they were no doubt married there.

Sarah and Jonathan had the following children, all born in Bridgewater:

  1. Recompence, b. perhaps about 1688, m. 1st 25 December 1711 Mary Crossman in Bridgewater, m. 2d 17 January 1726/7 Sarah (Alden) Brett in Bridgewater, d. 1759 in Bridgewater (see Recompence's profile for supporting sources)
  2. John,[5] b. perhaps about 1690,[6] m. 1st Experience Sweeting,[6] m. 2d 1730 Mary Burr,[6] m. 3d 1731 Susanna Bryam,[6] m. 4th 1734 Sarah Drake[6]
  3. Jonathan, b. perhaps about 1692, m. 1st 11 December 1717 Susanna Keith, m. 2d 10 December 1719 Experience Carver, d. 3 September 1766 (see Jonathan's profile for supporting sources)

Sarah's first husband, Jonathan, died in 1695.[4][5]

Second Marriage and Children

Sarah married, second, Benjamin Snow in Bridgewater on October 25, 1705.[7][8]

Sarah and Benjamin had the following child:

  1. Sarah, b. August 20, 1706 in Bridgewater[9][8]

Death

Sarah died sometime after September 12, 1738. She is mentioned in the will dated that date of Benjamin Snow, husbandman of Bridgewater.[10]

I removed my proposed merge with Allen-10762 and instead repurposed Allen-10762 to be the wife of Ebenezer Miller and deleted all the Ebenezer Miller connections from this profile.

Just following up on the proposed separation of Miller/Northampton Sarah from Cary/Snow/Bridgewater Sarah.

1. Gedcom import says that she was born 28 Jul 1667/8 in Northampton and died in Northhampton. This makes sense for Miller/Northampton Sarah but is inconsistent with Cary/Snow/Bridgewater Sarah, who was born and died in Bridgewater.

2. Cary/Snow Bridgewater Sarah was 18 when she married Jonathan Cary. Jonathan Cary died in 1695. She married Benjamin Snow in 1705. There was no reasonable time period during which she could have married Ebenezzer Miller and had 9 children by him.

Allen-10762 and Allen-782 are not ready to be merged because: Not ready to merge. Not enough information. Please do research.
Allen-10762 and Allen-782 appear to represent the same person because: Allen-100762 should be merged into Allen-782 and the Miller connections should be taken out of Allen-782.

It seems pretty clear that the Sarah Allen who married Ebenezer Miller is not the same Sarah Allen who married Jonathan Cary and Benjamin Snow. Since the Cary/Snow Allen was in Bridgewater where Samuel Allen II was, I suggest we keep this one for the the Cary/Snow Allen and whoever is related to the Millers should create a separate one for Miller/Northhampton Allen.
