Biography

Philip Allen was the eldest son and heir of William Allen and Eliza Aldworth.

He married Mary Smary Hayes in County Cork.

Philip and Mary had four children:

1. Mary Catherine Smary Hayes Allen
2. Captain William Henry Allen m Anne Bass
3. Eliza Charlotte Allen m John Webb
4. Atwell Alexander Allen

He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Cork City Militia. He held the office of Sheriff of Cork City in 1784. He was a woollen draper and brewer in 1789. He held the office of Mayor of Cork in 1800.

Captain Philip Allen died on 5 March 1808.
