Biography

George Allen (Alleyne) is named in the Allen Pedigree in the Visitation of Lincolnshire 1562. He is said to have been descended from Allen, of Chartley, Staffordshire and probably lived and died in Chartley. [1][2] He may have been a descendant of Alanus de Buckenhall, Lord of Buckenhall in the time of Edward I, possibly Henry Buckenhall Allen[3]

His son was Richard Allen of Grantham, Lincolnshire.[1]

The Arms on the Visitation pedigree were 'Per Chevron Gules and Ermine, in chief two lions' head erased Or'. [1]

Research Notes

There are no sources located to date for any parents or wife of George. The only son named is Richard Allen (Alleyne) of Grantham Lincolnshire. An alternative birth location is Chartley Manor There are a couple of unsourced suggestions about his date and place of death: 1538 at Chartley Manor, Staffordshire and 1540 at Parshore, Worcestershire.

Mary Snap (Snap-1) has been removed as a wife of George Alleyne. There is no evidence that she is the wife of George Alleyne, and online trees have her as the wife of Thomas Allen, to whom she is already linked as a wife.

(Thomas-7679 02:26, 31 March 2018 (EDT)) Profile detached from parents Thomas Alleyne-12 and Margaret Walkenden-1 due to lack of sources.

(Thomas-7679 03:07, 4 April 2018 (EDT)) Sources use the surname Allen rather than Alleyne.

Hi Tony, following up from my previous post, I have asked the England Project to project protect and manage this profile due to the confusion about parents, wives and children as well as LNAB. If you would like to discuss, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will detach him from the current parents today, and will proceed to project protect and add the England Project account in a week or so. Thanks!

Hi Tony, As you may have noticed, I've been doing some work on this line. I can't see any evidence for any parents for George Alleyne /Allen, so I think that we should remove the parents that are currently connected to him. Let me know if you want to discuss this. Also I've posted a couple of G2G questions to get some feedback about the current father (Thomas Alleyne-12) and grandfather (John Alleyn-12). You'll see the link on their profile pages. If you feel inclined to weigh in to the debate, I'd appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks!

THOMAS "LORD" "KNIGHT" ALLEYNE

MARGARET "LADY" WALKENDON Wish II could add sources, but I'm not 1500 cert. :)

Alleyne-31 and Alleyne-11 appear to represent the same person because: It looks like 11 was created and abandoned but the general idea is the same.
Allen-9461 and Alleyne-31 appear to represent the same person because: Please make a note of the alternative spelling of his last name in the "Other Names" field. Thank you!

A  >  Alleyne  >  George Alleyne
