Passenger Memories: by ALLISON Master D. Age 10
David remembers on his journey to Australia taking 4 weeks and 3 days.
Monsoon: when they were travelling the Indian Ocean ~ bottom of the hold was above the floor of their cabin, the hold stayed closed, very hot with no air movement, a small rebellion ensued due to the heat, as a result ships crew started placing stretchers on deck when a large wave came and took away the stretchers. At some stage during the Monsoon the ships Siren's suddenly started baying and not unlike the Titanic, the 3rd Class were running into 'locked' gates and unable to reach the life boats.[2]
Swimming Skills: As a 3rd Class passenger they were allowed to access swimming pool 2 days per week for 2 hours only, but David recalls that he learnt how to swim on the boat.[2]
Nawty Boys:David and his brothers, Alby and John crept into one of the luxury cabins to look, Alby and David dived out of the Cabin in time but John was 'caught' and 'carried' out of the room, and 'belted' by one of the crew [2]
