Biography

Dora Ann Allison was born on September 2, 1886 in Tennessee, United States, daughter of Pleasant Julius Allison (1854–1894) and Virginia Catherine Ensor (1867–1954).[1]

In 1900, Dora was living in Civil District 17, Putnam, Tennessee. [2]

In 1910, Dora was living in Newbern, Dyer, Tennessee. [3]

Dora (27) married Stephen Bedford Anderson (48) (born in 1864 in Flynns Lick, Jackson, Tennessee; son of William Carroll Anderson and Aletha Mumford Draper) on September 24, 1913 in Cookeville, Putnam.[4]

In 1920, Dora was living in Civil District 1, Putnam. [5]

In 1930, Dora was living in District 1, Putnam. [6]

Dora died on March 22, 1971 in Putnam, aged 84. She was buried in Cookeville City Cemetery, Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee.[1]

Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Allison Anderson, 84, were held from the First United Methodist Church, Wednesday, March 24, 1971 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ben Alexander officiating. Mrs. Anderson died Monday in a local nursing home following an extended illness. She was a native of Putnam County, the daughter of the late Julius P. and Virginia Catherine Ensor Allison and the widow of the late Col. S. B. Anderson. Mrs. Anderson graduated from the Cookeville schools and attended Tennessee tech and the University of Tennessee. For many years she was an active member of the Salem and Sycamore Home Demonstration Clubs and the Eastern Star. She was also a former teacher and homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Cookeville City Cemetery.
