Agnes Finlay Allison was born on December 23, 1847, in Erskine, Renfrewshire, child of William ALLISON and Christina McAUSLIN [1]

Agnes Married James Leckie, 13 December 1867, Erskine Parish, Renfrew. James was a Blacksmith, West Fulton, Linwood.

James and Agnes had 11 children, youngest one, Marion (Minnie) Marion Leckie's' two sons emigrated to Australia in 1948 and 1950.[2]

Note N120 Agnes’ birth not was registered until 31 Dec 1855 1851 and 1861 with parents.

1867 - Witnesses to Agnes’ wedding were her sister, Isabella Allison and Thomas Lavery. Agnes said she was 20, but was only 16 years old. Judging by the birthplaces of the children, Janes and Agnes moved around alot. They were married at Erskine Manse after Church of SCT banns. This confirms James and Agnes’ parent’s names.

1871 - Erskine, RFW James is with his grandparents William Allison and Christina.

1881 - census - They were at the West Fulton Smithy in Kilbarchan, RFW.. James is a 37yo blacksmith, Agnes “Findlay” is 33. They use relative surnames as middle names James 13 is a message boy, Christina McAusland. 11, William Allison 9, Katie Kirkwood 4, David 4, Alexander Allison 2, Agnes Allison 3 mo. Agnes death recored was signed by son John.

1891 - James 47 a blacksmith, Agnes 43 are at West Fulton, Kilbarchan, RFW. Their children are Wm 19, Kate 17, David 14, Alexander 12, Agnes 10, Maggie and John are 7, Eliza is 5 and Marion 2

1901- James 57 and Agnes 53are still in New Fulton, Kilbarchan with children Kate 27 a dressmaker, Agnes 20, Maggie a grocer assistant and John are , worker17, Eliza 15, Minnie 12. There is a 20 yo John McLaggash 20, b Islay and a Blacksmith.

1911

1922 - At the time of her death, Agnes and James lived at West Fulton, Linwood, RFW. Their son John registered the death. Agnes died of carcinoma of the larynx for 6 months. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]
