Biography

Anna "Polly" was born before 1736 in Donegal Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, the fifth of six known children and the youngest of three daughters of James and Rebecca Howard Allison.

In 1760, when she was in her mid-twenties, Anna married John Henry DeFrance in an unknown location unknown, and bore him one known child, a son whom they named John C.

Anna died of unknown causes while she was still in her twenties, about 1763 in Heidelberg, Westmoreland (later Allegheny) County, Pennsylvania.

• Larry DeFrance, Helena Montana USA, 2000. note: first wife of John Henry DeFrance, and mother of John jr. note: she was NOT the mother of John DeFrance who m. Jane Caldwell. John, Jr's mother was Anna "Polly" Allison, the first wife of John Henry. Again, this is proved through wills in my possession. Anna died sometime before September 1762, a date based on legal papers naming Elisabeth as John Henry's wife. Family oral tradition is that Anna died giving birth to their second child, James. "My source of information on him is from some 1981 family papers that found their way into my care."
