Robert has conflicting birth date of circa 1730.
Birth Notes: "One source suggests Robert immigrated from Scotland to North Carolina in 1752 and then moved to Virginia by 1773. Another source states that Robert was born about 1730, lived in Iredell County, North Carolina in 1757 and moved to Washington County in 1781."

1782, Tax Lists in , WASHINGTON Co., VA, show him next door to [James?] Dysart with 1 tithable, ?/ horses. ?/ cattle and 1 slave named Laben.
The Washington County Surveyors Record 1781-1797 © by Rhonda Robertson, Page 305, indicates that Robert Allison lived on the waters of the north fork of Holston River - treasury warrant dated October 11, 1783 #19841 referencing Robert Allison’s corner.
1788, with Robert Preston, James K . . . , Thomas (?) Sturt, and Daniel Carr(?), partition (?) of land by Robt Buchnan (?) to Hugh Jackson , WASHINGTON Co., VA.

Note

Robert was living in Rowan County (part that became Iredell County in 1788), N.C. in 1757. In 1781 he removed to the eastern part of Washington Co., VA, one and one half miles from Glade Spring. About 1811 he and two of his sons, Robert and James Allison, removed to Logan Co., KY, leaving his son William and his two daughters (Elizabeth and Mary) in Washington Co., VA. ("The History of the Alison or Allison Family," by L.A. Morrison, Pub. by Damrell & Upham, Boston, MA 1893, [in the Genealogy.com library], page 161, (Chapter VIII: "Allisons of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Louisianna --Allisons of Lifford,, County Donegal, Ireland, and Tennessee, U.S.") states that Robert Allison, Jr. , son of Robert Allison (b. abt. 1730) resided in Logan Co., KY and that Robert, Jr's., sister Mary Allison, married William Beattie, of Washington Co., VA. It also states that Robert Allison, Sr. was in Iredell Co., N.C. in 1757 and that he died in Logan Co., KY. His parentage is not given or proven in this book.

Will

He signed a will on 23 Mar 1816 in , CHRISTIAN, KY, USA. "It was witnessed by M. Wilson, R. Pennington and John McKinney. The document named Robert's daughters Mary Beaty [sic., i.e., Beatie] and Elizabeth Haytor, as well as his sons William, Robert, James and Joseph. James and Joseph were named executors."

Robert Allison, the father of William Allison, who married Susannah Hayter was a Private during the American Revolutionary War. DAR records indicate that he was born 1730, and died in 1811, in Logan county, Kentucky. His wife's name was Elizabeth and they lived first in Rowan county, North Carolina and then in Washington county, Virginia. Iredell County was created in 1778 from Rowan County. Rowan County was formed in 1753 from the northern part of Anson County.
