DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Betsey by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Betsey:
As far as I can tell there were more than one David Alvis people on the American frontier. Alvis is a large family.
Some come here with GEDCOM import, and that is especially true with frontier pioneers. I enter my ancestors by hand and I would appreciate a G2G discussion before foisting "so called rules" upon my family. Websites are *not* evidence.
Alvis-3825 and Alvis-3 do not represent the same person because: Previous person who proposed merger said the mother is NOT the mother of Betsy Alvis and said nevermind because she felt she was mistaken.
Alvis-3 also clearly states This profile lacks source information. Please add sources that support the facts. You have to show Mary Cauthon is not the mother of Alvis-3825. Otherwise we would be erasing Mary Cauthon and her descendants.
There cannot be a duplicate if one of the persons is fictional. That is bad genealogcal proof standard.
Susannah Suckey was allegedly 9 years old in 1773. if she ever existed. Her entry on ancestry has been removed. Her entry on familysearch has also been removed as far as I can tell.
WHAT DUPLICATE? Go to the owner and ask them to fix their bad import of Alvis-3 to make it mergeable. Or remove Alvis-3. Dont confuse this person with Alvis-3825 based on rumors.
Father David Crenshaw Alvis. Mother: Mary Cauthon. Of her ancestors I DNA match 25+ Alvis people. Her husband William Claunch born 1773 married Rebecca [Bottom, some say Bolton] and I DNA match 12+ of their descendants. Of William's siblings I dna match 40+ descendants. I Y-DNA match two of his father's descendants.
I have a photo of the marriage record between William Claunch and Betsy Alvis.

William and Betsy had one son in 1797: David Jefferson Claunch. He served in the war of 1812 and the US Army put a brass plaque on his grave site. And gave him a land grant in 1850. I talk to David Claunch, my cousin, who actually owns the land today!
I will try to put up evidence when i have more time. Thanks, and cheers! Don't give up on Betsy. ;)
Thanks Ed, I removed myself as manager. I'm not sure why I adopted her or how, except Alvis ties into a Jester family of AL. I might make additions later.
People are demanding merges based on ... ? no evidence.
I know the Alvis tree. I am an Alvis. There needs to be a discussion before any merging goes on involving Alvis-3825. I would think us managers could sort it out. But 3rd parties with no evidence are making a lot of work for us.
I am having surgery and I am not merging anything more.
Someone wants Suckey-1 as a mother. She was 9 years old when Betsy was born. If you change to get the correct family members I would approve a merge. It has to be GPS ready.
Wikitree is becoming unusable for the Alvis study because of this nonsense. Thanks for helping keep it safe.

meanwhile I added a secondary source record of the 1768 marriage.

So I rejected the merge.
