Death: Joseph of the "Woodman" inn, Glass Houghton, Castleford, died on 20 January 1901 and their estate passed probate on 22 February 1901 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, to Mary Ambler, widow. [10][11] He was buried at Castleford, All Saints on 22 Jan 1901, [12] and his death (age 63) was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1901 in the Pontefract district.[13]
Research Note
I am not confident that John Ambler and Sarah Waite are parents of Joseph, or when exactly he was born. There is a baptism record on 15 April 1838 for a Joseph Ambler in Whitkirk St Mary, with mother's name as Sarah Ambler, no father named. [14] Why would or could his birth be registered 2 years later? I have checked through the Whitkirk register for 1840 but nothing found. A possibility could be that John Ambler had a sister Sarah. I don't know where the birth date has come from, maybe someone has the birth cert. Message sent to PM to see if he has any other information.

I've just been updating your profile for Joseph Ambler and I see you have a date of birth for him as 1 June 1840. Just wondered where the information came from, and if you have, or have seen a birth certificate for him. It would be very helpful if you have, and could let me know.
