William was born William Ambler in 1838 Manston, Whitkirk, Yorkshire [1] and baptised William Ambler on 5 August 1938 Swillington, St. Mary, Yorkshire the son of William Ambler (Collier) and Ann of Manston, parish of Whitkirk. [2]
Living in Great Manston, Austhorpe Yorkshire in 1841 with parents & sister Elizabeth (8), brother Sanuel (6).[3]
